Happy Birthday!

This is my youngest child, Jenelle. Today is her birthday and she is exactly halfway to becoming a newly licensed driver in the state of Connecticut.
`
Translation: she's turning 8 years old today.
`
Her favorite activities include dancing (hip-hop, group tap and solo tap, and ballet) and competitive figure skating.
`
As you can see in this picture, she also loves stuffed animals. To that end, she'll be having her birthday party this afternoon at Build-A-Bear with six of her closest friends.
`
This is the first of back-to-back frivolous posts that have absolutely nothing to do with the normal content of this blog. Please enjoy these two blasts from the past to hold you over until Feb 25th, when we return you to our regularly scheduled programming. First, then Second, in that order please.

  3. Aw... your daughter is beautiful! I used to love stuffed animals when I was a kid, too... I believe I amassed a collection of over 100 before I "outgrew" them (although honestly, I don't think I EVER outgrew them... :)). Hope she has a very happy birthday!

  4. Thanks....I don't think she'll ever "outgrow" her very large collection of stuffed animals.

I think they'll just hang around her room growing comfortably old with her.

  10. Many thanks everyone.

I'll pass on these birthday wishes to her as well.

She was very much pleased with the birthday wishes she got from everyone else yesterday.

She had a very good day yesterday. A new teddy, a nifty pizza party and some cool presents. She even made the party favors for everyone as well.

  11. Err, umph. I went to a UK version of build a bear to make a 'teddy doctor' to celebrtae the tenth anniversary of my having openheart surgery to replce a dud valve.

The bear was nade just over 2 years ago, when I was 52 years old!!

Happy day for yesterday, It will be all downhill in a couple of years.

  12. Congratulations for you on a successful ten year anniversary!

It might be downhill after that, once she discovers a greater use of the telephone.

  14. Happy Birthday to Jenelle. I have an 8 y.o. daughter too, but hadn't thought about her being half-way to having a driver's license. Yikes! (popped over from Travis' blog)

  15. Thank you for your b'day wishes, I'll be sure to pass them on to her.

Yeah, it's a bit scary that she's halfway there. However, I'll trade that issue for abusing the telephone straight up.

Many thanks for stopping by mine to say hi. I'll be sure to check yours out.

  16. Happy birthday to your daughter!

I ice skated last week and I marvel at people who can do more than go around with sore ankles. What a beautiful sport! Good for her.

Go on, give me your best shot. I can take it. If I couldn't, I wouldn't have created this wonderful little blog that you decided to grace with your presence today.

About that comment moderation thingy: While yes, it does say up above I can take it, I only use it to prevent the occasional miscreant from leaving thoughtless and/or clueless comments.

So remember, all of your comments are greatly appreciated and all answers will be given that personal touch that you come to expect and enjoy.
