Happy Thanksgiving 2009

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

May you be celebrating the day with family and friends, stuffing your face with whatever dead animal you chose to sacrifice to your favorite deity, and watching your favorite sport, be it football (American version) or football (what the other 170+ countries in the world play) or whatever fun filled sport that would be played on a normal Thursday in other parts of the world.

~
If you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, or if you're looking for something to do while cooking your dead animal of choice, or if you're one of those cooking your dead vegetable of choice, and it's gotten down to either reading this blog or listening to the 75th time your Uncle (fill in the name) telling you about the time he went a-huntin' for the dead animal of choice and failed, I want to say this:

Why are you here reading this blog? What's the matter with you?? Surely you can find something better to do than to read this blog on a holiday that retailers aren't even paying attention to this year, right???

Seriously though, for your reading pleasure, Cedar's Mountain proudly brings to you (with absolutely almost no effort on your part, beyond moving your mouse and pressing the shiny/dull right or left button) his Thanksgiving post from last year.

It's a special post where he runs down the historical inanities of his state.

Enjoy!

  1. Running re-runs are you? Not a bad idea. I've thought about it.

As for why I'm reading this post. I'm in a hotel in Southeastern Europe eating pizza because a co-worker didn't know how to cook a turkey properly. But I digress...

Happy Thanksgiving G to you and your family.

  2. You are so funny! No dead birds for me, I'm a vegetarian. Sneaking in time before guest comes over.

  4. Jannie: Thanks.

Our turkey went into the oven around 9p last night at 350.

    Mmm-mmm good!

R.K.: I'm an equal opportunity poster, so I wish both types a happy Turkey day (or if you want to try something different, how 'bout a soy based turkey?).

Good for you that you decided to get your dose of wholesome goodness before getting whacked with family nuttiness.

David: Considering last year on Thanksgiving I spend about two hours writing that post, I felt it was a good time to share with everyone again. That and I was printing out some old posts of mine and found this little gem tucked in with the rest.

Pizza for Thanksgiving? I don't know, my sister-in-law brought over lasagna today.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well.

  8. What does a vegetarian make for Thanksgiving when their guest are all carnivores?? Tofurkey or something else?

  9. Bearman: I haven't a clue, but whatever it might be, chances are it won't touch my plate. Whereas putting excess soybeans to use is a good thing, eating it any other form besides Bac-O's bacon bits (yes, they are made out of soybeans) is something I do not want to do.

Mama Z: Thanks. Hope your Thanksgiving didn't drive you ga-ga.

  11. They weren't too bad this week...the leftovers didn't last for very long. However, mother did go out and buy three more turkeys for future use, simply because they were on sale for 59 cents a pound.

  12. Hey at least your re-runs are more entertaining than watching Sylvester Stallone in "Demolition Man" on tv for the upteenth time that weekend. Arg!

  13. Thanks.

I think I would go ga-ga if I had to watch "Demolition Man" multiple times as well.

Go on, give me your best shot. I can take it. If I couldn't, I wouldn't have created this wonderful little blog that you decided to grace with your presence today.

About that comment moderation thingy: While yes, it does say up above I can take it, I only use it to prevent the occasional miscreant from leaving thoughtless and/or clueless comments.

So remember, all of your comments are greatly appreciated and all answers will be given that personal touch that you come to expect and enjoy.
