I Just Wanna Be...

Normal?

yeah, like that's gonna happen soon.

In a positive frame of mind?

are you kidding me?

No, I'm not kidding you. Besides, what the hell are you doing crashing my post anyways? Go find your own blog to spout your nonsense on and leave me alone.

geez, make a couple of comments and you get banned for life

Damn straight....anyways, in spite of what the subconscious has been saying, I am back. Not quite in the saddle, since I forgotten to tighten the stirrup, thus spending the past couple of days bouncing along upside down like a cartoon character, but nevertheless, yours truly has returned from a short period of blog deprivation to hopefully once again spread joy and confusion amongst his fellow readers.

The short version as to why Frosty the Snowman:

For the past few weeks I've been getting bombarded with a plethora of mental missiles that had its origins in my day-to-day activities at work and at home. Now couple that with the fact that my CMT has been flaring up like mad (my friends, the writer's adage of planting butt into seat, while good advice I try to follow, usually has terrible consequences for yours truly) and that my sugars were starting to spike (again), it finally reached the point to where I was becoming extremely disgusted with not only the way things were functioning in my life but the way I was interacting with people. So in order to get myself back to my version of normalcy, I decided not only to take a short recess from blogging but to work on an old short story of mine.

The recess did wonders for my sanity (I'm now back to blogging, sort of) and working on the old short story gave me something tangible and safe to concentrate my energies on (I'm now back to writing on the computer as opposed to pen and paper, sort of), although the health ain't where I want it to be but at least now I have a better shot of getting it back under control.

I thank all of you for your thoughtful comments and its very comforting to know that I have such great friends here in the Blog world.

  1. Sorry to hear about your CMT acting up. I've been suffering some unpleasantness with my periphreal neuropathy from sitting at the computer too much lately. I'm glad you're feeling some energy return in general though.

  2. Sounds like your break shook things up for you in a good way. :-)

  3. It's good that you know how to take care of yourself, G, and give yourself what you need. Take care and I hope your health is better soon, too.

  4. That is a good recess for the mind and spirit. You can't beat jumping into writing to get you back on track. I'm trying to do it as well. I'm super stressed these days.

  5. Some mornings I sit down to read blogs and Facebook and I actually NEED that second cup of java. This morning I saw my 10 year old granddaughter had posted a disgusting music video on Facebook. I was told I gave her a "facebook beating". Then her father actually LOOKED at the video and agreed that a 10 year old shouldn't be watching this let alone posting it.
Since schools, colleges, whatever have started up I have an inbox of stupid comments from mystery people on old, old blog posts.
So, some mornings I NEED to read my blogging buddies posts just to get my blood pressure down. So, in my own way, I understand. I hear ya. :)Bea

  7. Charles: Thanks. It's been brutal to say the least. It's been a week long crunch time (paychecks, timesheets and dealing with the residual fallout from our lovely state auditor) so I've been spending an abnormal amount of time sitting at work, and even with taking breaks every 15-20 minutes, it's been doing a serious number on my lower half and my hands. Even worse at home, but I try to deal with it the best I can.

Bearman: Thanks, it's good to be back. Now all I have to do is get in the proper mindset of blogging (at least for this blog, other blogs I got are going fine) the way I like blogging, which is lighthearted yet with a slightly twisted outlook at things.

Extra O: It did. In addition to working on the story in question (which I've been rewriting for the past couple of days) I managed to pull out another story and did some editing on that. It really is amazing that sometimes the simplest thing, like editing, can often be the greatest stress reducer.

Lynn: Thanks. The weather is supposed to be fantastic this weekend, and Newington is having their annual Waterfall festival this Saturday as well. It will be great to get out and listen to some live music and see some great street art.

Kelly: I find that doing the simple thing of editing and outlining a previously written story is the best stress reducer I can come up with. It forces you to concentrate on the task at hand to the point where you can tune out the outside world long enough to get your inner chi back.

Bea: I haven't posted an update on FB in a while (which if you so desire, you can friend me. just click on the link in the upper left on what to use for searching purposes), but I did spend most of my time lurking about on the blogs and FB as well. I still wanted to keep up to date with everyone's blogs and my circle of friends, even though I wasn't doing any blogging.

  8. Travis: Most definitely. Except it seems like as of late I can only get it in bits, pieces and parts. Love to take a longer break, but I'm afraid if I do, I wouldn't want to come back.

  9. Mama Z: Thanks, and I'm glad to be back spouting my warped outlook on life for all my friends and readers.

  10. Glad to hear your back and somewhat refreshed. Sometimes you just have to get away from the keyboard. I know I do.

  11. David: Thanks.

It wasn't so much as getting away from the keyboard as opposed to just getting away. The keyboard was still there, just the poison that was feeding it had to be neutrualized.

  12. I took a complete break from the Internet

I'd seen enough funny cats to last a lifetime!

Back now though - good to see you are still here mate!

  13. Miles: Welcome back there big guy! Thought you might've fallen competely off the map for a while there.

Yeah, I can certainly sympathize with needing a break but I don't think I could do a complete wipeout like you did. I'm impressed that you were able to successfully do that.

Thanks. It's a been a tough road the last four-five months but after doing all kinds of tweaking here and there, I'm still plying my trade.

Go on, give me your best shot. I can take it. If I couldn't, I wouldn't have created this wonderful little blog that you decided to grace with your presence today.

About that comment moderation thingy: While yes, it does say up above I can take it, I only use it to prevent the occasional miscreant from leaving thoughtless and/or clueless comments.

So remember, all of your comments are greatly appreciated and all answers will be given that personal touch that you come to expect and enjoy.
