An Unfortunate Change

This a rare day of back to back postings, however, I made a small change to my blog which has necessitated this second post.

Occasionally, I have problems with trolls in the chat room forums. And up until today, they've kept themselves in the chat rooms.

Today, I had one follow me over to my blog from a link that I had left about Thanksgiving on a thread that the both of us happen to post on.

I had to nuke two of his comments here because he decided to bring his trolling activities from there to here. I know who this person is and I will deal with him accordingly.

Which brings me to the change I've made here. Until I can resolve this problem to my satisfaction, starting today (11/27), all comments will be moderated. I don't want to do this, but this person has left me no other choice to pursue here.

I apologize in advance for any inconvenience that this might cause. I pride myself on freedom of speech here and it really pains me to do this, but I will not have my blog polluted by someone who has nothing better to do with their time on this planet.

  1. Some people just have no class. Sorry you are struggling with this issue. I've been pretty lucky so far.

  2. Thanks.

I did a lot of thinking over this particular issue, mostly because of where I came from had the Big Brother syndrome built into their system.

The good thing is that I know who this particular person (thanks to Sitemeter), so I can try to handle it over there.

Hopefully this won't last too long and I'll be able to get the blog back to normal.

  3. I've had to do this once as well. It only lasted a month though, and I quietly just turned off moderation without comment. My particular troll (who did not come from Topix) never came back. At least not yet.

Hope your Thanksgiving was a good one.

  4. Thanks. It was.

It is unfortunate. I already got a post of his purged because he threatened to get me nuked from Topix.

But, we shall see what we shall see.

  5. I think I saw that post from him on ASR2 but can't remember who it was. Some of those ASR people are OK but there's a core group that is just nasty. Hell, CP3 is on his 3rd registered persona by now... Chess Player 3, Chicago Poet 3, and now Arise Chicago Poet. You'd think they'd learn... but no. At least their not ganging up and going on trolling expeditions anymore. That much managed to sink into their thick skulls at least. Is that putrid hatefest meatbag "Midwest Gal" still around (hiding behind another persona)? She was really the worst of the bunch.

  6. The person goes by the name "Observandum", and he is an expatriate living in Germany.

Funny thing though, ever since I made that little post about the "neat things my blog can do", he's only made one post to me and no more.

    Go figure.

In any event, yes they have learned thier lesson about trolling. About a few weeks ago, they kind of had a group therapy session about it and it seems like they had a collective epiphany about it.

So it looks like (at least to me) that they won't be doing that any more.

Go on, give me your best shot. I can take it. If I couldn't, I wouldn't have created this wonderful little blog that you decided to grace with your presence today.

About that comment moderation thingy: While yes, it does say up above I can take it, I only use it to prevent the occasional miscreant from leaving thoughtless and/or clueless comments.

So remember, all of your comments are greatly appreciated and all answers will be given that personal touch that you come to expect and enjoy.
