Crossing That River Of Blue Funkiness

Things that have helped me cross that river of blue funkiness.

1} A fantastic orange-yellow sunset cresting over the trees/mountain/town/city while driving home from work. There is something very magical about a beautiful sunset that touches you...right...there.

2} This cute post from my good blogger friend Jannie.

3} This funny post from my good blogger friend Joe.

4} A close friend of mine adding a new member (teenager) to her ever expanding family. May she always be blessed with a heart of gold and always has that little child in her pop out every once in a while to show the world that life indeed can be fun and carefree.

5} Writing a short story with a theme (mild cannibalism) that I wouldn't even had thought possible six months ago. Yes, sometimes putting aside one's current writing project to try something completely off the wall, can help jumpstart the creative juices again. Many thanks to Charles for the genre idea.

6} My Winnie-the-Pooh calendar, which uses the classic Pooh drawings and scenes from all the books. January's scene was where Pooh gets stuck entering Rabbit's home.

7} Two drawings of colorful flowers that my daughter made for me.

8} Realizing that I can bring a smile to a co-worker's face, simply by uttering a malapropism and having it remembered weeks/months later.

9} Realizing that I still have the gift of wittiness, when I can make a young lady smile and blush at the same time.

10} My stuffed animals that reside in my cube: Roger Rabbit, Taz, a teddy, an Easter bunny and a cuddly dog.

  1. You should bottle that gift of wittiness! Cool that you're hanging out with Roger Rabbit. That was a good movie.

  2. A whole latte happiness going on here. Those beautiful sunsets never get tired, each one always seems like an original. Ditto the childhood paintings.

  3. What a great list. I hear you on the sunset. I get the same feeling when I see a glorious sunrise.

  5. Kelly: It most definitely was. My girlfriend (now wife) at the time, picked him up for me when she was working at Bradlees.

Joanne: I tell ya, every time I get into a rotten mood at work, just looking out my office building window and seeing the sun starting to set in the winter time always makes my mood a little less rottener. It most definitely is a beautiful thing.

Talon: Thanks. I don't get up early enough for the sunrise, but in the summer mornings, seeing the sun peek zig zag its way through the mountain is really a sight to see. It really makes you stop and think about the higher power in our lives.

R.K.: I enjoy the classic Winnie the Pooh, even had a check background for a couple of years.

And the stuffed animals sometimes comes in handy at work whenever we get the occasional young visitor.

And thanks, I'm glad that I'm now considered "cool" by the younger generation. :D

  9. "River of blue funkiness." I know that river well, but didn't know it had a name.

Just hearing it brings a smile to my face. I'm almost across!

  10. Hi Pamela: When I originally wrote this (I usually have about five post scheduled at a given time), I was battling through a wicked a blue funk. I was leafing through a dictionary at work when I came across the word "funky" and its various offshoots. After thinking about it for a few, it just seemed to stick.

I think we all go through periods like that from time to time. The key is to not let it completely overwhelm you.

  12. Joe: I gathered the comment you left previously didn't stick. My apologies for that as it was quite possible that Blogger ate it up. Apparently my blog was suffering through a small glitch on Wednesday and it must of carried over to Thursday.

I just got back to my blogs today and there were only two comments life by you, one on each post.

Again, my apologies for your previous comment not sticking.

Go on, give me your best shot. I can take it. If I couldn't, I wouldn't have created this wonderful little blog that you decided to grace with your presence today.

About that comment moderation thingy: While yes, it does say up above I can take it, I only use it to prevent the occasional miscreant from leaving thoughtless and/or clueless comments.

So remember, all of your comments are greatly appreciated and all answers will be given that personal touch that you come to expect and enjoy.
