Count Your Downs: 500

I thought for the next few weeks I would re-visit some old blog posts of mine and showcase how Cedar's Mountain has evolved over the past 59 months.

I know this sounds a little bit like my new series called "ReDeux!" but this is something so radically different that it will make your head spin, or at the very least, wonder why I wrote some of this stuff in the first place.

One thing that will make this post, which is #995, different from the others, is that I'll be whipping out some tags that have not see any kind of usage since the early days of this blog.

For instance, in celebration of revisiting blog post #500, I again dusted off the shelf a very old tag called "Book Reviews".

Unlike post #200, post #500 covers a genre that most guys will not admit to reading, unless it's in Playboy, Penthouse or Hustler.

Romance.

I started reading romance, specifically African/American, back in 2008, but only as a dabbler. I still dabble in the romance genre to this day, and I'm still picky about what I read for romances. For instance, my preferred choice of romance is something along the lines of this post from August 30, 2010 entitled "The Bikini Car Wash".

As always, you can leave your comments there, or for an easier response, here.

  1. On Tues and Wed over at my blog, I'm doing a couple of posts about "Good Summer Reads." Line 21 gets the thumbs up on Tuesday, along with Riot Kitty's ebook too!

  3. I remember that! Still haven't read a romance novel.
    And thanks, Debra!

  4. M: Still?

Wow. I still got you beat. I read and reveiwed a book of true erotica and it remains the only book of erotica that I've read.

    Besides mine, that is.

  5. I've read about a dozen historical romances and enjoyed them. Mainly because I knew the authors.

  6. Charles: Lately, that is about the only way I'll read romances. This particular book was the last romance that I've read that wasn't written by someone I didn't personally know.

I have a couple of romances, one historical and one paranormal, that are sitting on my shelf at work. I plan on tackling those this summer once my book fatigue wears off.

  7. I actually learned from a fellow writer friend that not all romance novels are cliched, mushy throwaway books for women. Needless to say, I've read a few that have actually had some really solid writing and some amazing storylines.

  8. ABFtS: I'm not painting the romance genre with the widest brush possible, because there are some good ones out there. And those I have no problem in recommending to others.

  9. I read a few romance novels and they seemed to be formulaic - not my thing, plus it never works out like that in real life. (Said grumpily.) :)

  10. Lynn: Be kind of cool if it did, wouldn't it? :D

Go on, give me your best shot. I can take it. If I couldn't, I wouldn't have created this wonderful little blog that you decided to grace with your presence today.

About that comment moderation thingy: While yes, it does say up above I can take it, I only use it to prevent the occasional miscreant from leaving thoughtless and/or clueless comments.

So remember, all of your comments are greatly appreciated and all answers will be given that personal touch that you come to expect and enjoy.
